2016 Doubles Boot Camps
Cliff Drysdale Tennis at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort is in the midst of its third straight year of the popular Doubles Boot Camps. Since the majority of people in the tennis community are doubles players, this camp is designed for those tennis enthusiasts who want to work on specific strategies that will take their doubles play to the next level. In year’s past, players have come from all over Florida and the southeast to attend our Doubles Boot Camps and have left the sessions with a greater understanding and appreciation of the game. Not to mention, it’s a great way to kick start the spring season for league play.
Building on past year’s camps, this year features even more drills and strategies. In ten hours of total play, Doubles Boot Camp will teach you techniques like Smart Shot Selection, how to Attack like a Tiger and Defensive Offense. Even though we often tend to overcomplicate doubles, it doesn’t need to be that way. Frequently, we find players thinking about too many factors at once, such as the pace, height, and angle of the ball. By focusing on high percentage tennis and smart doubles strategy, we are able to strip the game down to its basics and make you a better player.
Doubles is certainly a team effort that requires you and your partner to communicate effectively. At Doubles Boot Camps, we work on doubles specific drills that will have you moving together fluidly with your partner on the court. The skills that you’ll develop at the net will drastically increase your chances of poaching a volley and will encourage communication with your partner. During the camp, we will work on new shot development such as using the lob as an offensive shot instead of a weak, defensive shot. We will also work on being aggressive to hit effective volleys.
Our Doubles Bootcamp Weekend includes ten hours of tennis instruction and play along with a welcome reception, an exhibition by the pros, an arrival gift and accommodations for two nights at Omni Amelia Island Plantation. For more information on the 2016 Doubles Boot Camps, just click here!
