When you work for Omni Amelia Island Plantation, you’re family. Perhaps nobody knows this better than Nature Center Supervisor, Levi Welling. As part of the Recreation team here at the resort, Levi has the pleasure of working with some of his best friends day in and day out. He even met his lovely wife, Marilou, here. Hired as an Environmental Interpretation Intern for the Nature Center in 2010, Levi approaches everything he does with a smile on his face and a level of enthusiasm that is literally infectious. As the Nature Center Supervisor, he consistently strives to ensure that all of our tours, the retail shop and the Nature Center all run as smoothly as possible. We’re proud to feature him in this week’s blog…

Name: Levi Welling

Occupation:  Nature Center/Heron’s Cove Supervisor

Best part about your job:  Interacting with guests on a daily basis and teaching them about the flora and fauna of Florida.  Nature is a true highlight of our property and I think everyone should know as much as possible.

Advice for people wanting to get into your field:  Come to work every day with a smile on your face.  Look at every opportunity  as a chance to learn.  Knowledge is power.

Tips for our readers:  Treat every day like it’s a Saturday!  Each day is a new opportunity to have fun!

Hobbies:  Fishing, Golfing, Bike Riding, Basketball.

Favorite shows, books, movies:  The Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Favorite bands:  Dave Matthews Band, Pretty Lights, STS9

Favorite dish: Homemade tostadas.

Best thing about Amelia Island:  My wife and dog along with the beach, fishing and golfing opportunities.

One thing our readers should know about you:  I absolutely love to play golf, fish and just be outside.

So if you’re here, be sure to stop by the Nature Center to say hello to Levi. If he’s not in, you can probably find him out the golf course or hooking a bass at Red Maple lake.
