July Fourth on Amelia Island

The Omni Amelia Island Plantation is declaring a state of fun for the upcoming July Fourth holiday weekend! Sure, we’re the place to be year-round, but when Independence Day rolls through, we tend to kick it up a notch. Maybe that’s why Travel + Leisure decided to list us as one of America’s Best Towns for July 4th. And if you’ve ever spent an Independence Day at Amelia Island, then you know why we made the cut. For a full rundown on all of the activities we’ll be hosting at the resort over Independence Day Weekend, click here.¬†Or just keep reading…

Head over to the Shops of Amelia Island Plantation all weekend for some festive specials and discounts. The Amelia’s Signature Shop, Harrison’s Mercantile and Natural Slice will be offering 10% off any item that is red, white or blue, so be sure to pick up a few things to show off your patriotic pride.

Island Hopper Parade

Keeping with tradition, the annual parade will kick off at 9am on Independence Day. No cars, mini-trucks, horses, or trackers here. Instead, we’ll be decking out bikes and island hoppers with streamers, banners, sparklers and various other decorations. Make sure to reserve yours at Amelia’s Wheels as they will go fast! Then join the caravan of other resort guests and attendees along the parade circuit and remember to raise those stars and stripes high. The parade will eventually conclude at Canopy Park where we’ll be featuring a Bounce House, Adventure Golf, S.A.F.E. Archery and tons of other family-friendly activities.Got a competitive streak? Try your hand in either our watermelon or pie eating contests, Build-Your-Own Boat Challenges, pool relays, sandcastle building competition or corn hole tournament. Prefer to dance with a giant turtle instead? Then strut your stuff with Tanner, our resort mascot on the pool deck every day at 3pm (Be sure to bring it, though…Tanner’s got some moves).

Tanner Dance Party

Don’t forget the grub. In true all-American fashion, we will be breaking out the propane tanks and the tongs and offering a selection of grilled steaks, burgers, hot dogs, fish and local shrimp. And for all of the foodies in the house, be sure to take advantage of our Executive Chef’s brand new “Sprouting Project” tour or grab a delicious nitro milkshake made with real vanilla beans in the lobby each day from 4-6pm. We can attest, the “adult” version made with Kentucky bourbon is about as good a milkshake as we’ve ever had.

The Sprouting Project

Be sure to leave enough in your tank for the main event, which kicks off at 9:30pm. We’ll be hosting our annual fireworks show on the beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.¬†Worried about finding a great view to take it all in? Reserve a spot on our Oceanside patio. For $300 per table, you’ll receive a 4-course dinner and front row seats for the show! Just call 904-261-6161 to make your reservation. Maybe you’d rather watch from your room? Well you can order a picnic basket for two for $99 and celebrate the show from your own private balcony. Just order from room service when you arrive.

The excitement doesn’t end when the fireworks are over. There’s plenty going on all weekend to keep the patriotic streak alive. For instance, join us on Saturday for a traditional Hawaiian Luau on the beach, featuring a traditional Polynesian dance show and Polynesian menu. Don’t forget to bring your hula skirt and join in. No judgement here!

Like we said before, Omni Amelia Island Plantation is the place to be on Independence Day. So gather up your troops and get ready for a weekend blowout.

Chris Boek is doing a fine thing with his new project.
Also, I want to say I was so impressed with the 4th of July celebration. Everything from the golf cart parade to the AIP celebration to the Omni’s gorgeous fireworks display was excellent. My family was here and enjoyed every minute.
