We’re constantly coming up with new ways to make your stay at Omni Amelia Island even more enjoyable. With over 1,300 acres to explore, 3.5 miles of pristine beaches and the largest pool deck in Northeast Florida, many of our guests couldn’t ask for much more when it comes to their perfect vacation. We’re not really into settling, though—which is why we also offer ten different restaurants on property, along with a luxurious Spa & Salon and a fully-staffed recreational team that provides daily kayak, paddleboarding and Segway tours. But that’s not all…

The Rum + Tequila Experience

The Rum + Tequila Experience

Introducing the newest feature at our beautiful, oceanfront resort — the “Rum + Tequila Experience,” our premium poolside bar offering a selection of handcrafted cocktails along with flights of the finest rum and tequila. What began as a simple idea on a cocktail napkin less than a year ago has since grown into an obsession for Omni Amelia Island’s Food & Beverage Director, Chris Walling. After multiple visits to well-known distilleries in both the Caribbean and Mexico, Mr. Walling has hand-selected his favorite varieties of both spirits and brought them to our resort for your enjoyment. We’re proud to unveil his newest brainchild and hope you stop by to “experience” an all new approach to drinking both rum and tequila.

But why rum and tequila, you ask? After all, let’s face it—tequila has gotten a bad rap in America. For years, “mescal brandy” (as it was originally referred to in the States) has been infamously associated with college parties and bad decisions. And while many of us are familiar with both piña coladas and “The Captain,” few of us know the pride Jamaicans have for Appleton Estate Reserve.

Connoisseurs appreciate rum and tequila for what they truly are — luxury fine spirits with enduring character and history. They will tell you that it is best to savor the taste and aroma when drinking both straight, much like you would a fine brandy or scotch. They will also most likely recommend that you start with an Añejo (or extra aged tequila) or a fine aged rum if you are looking to get serious about your drinking. We’d of course recommend stopping by the Rum + Tequila Experience if you’re looking to dig deeper into the rich history of both spirits.

Featuring the finest selection of tequilas and rums

As North America’s first distilled drink and commercially-produced alcohol, tequila’s roots run deep. And with several types of classifications, like Reposado, Anejo, and Extra Anejo, there’s much more complexity to this fine Mexican spirit than the Cuervo Gold of your college years would lead you to believe. The same is also true of rum, which is one of the most varied spirits in the world. This is why you’ll find over 100 types of both liquors at the Rum + Tequila Experience.

Open Tuesday-Saturday, 11am-5pm on our pool deck, the bar also offers both rum and tequila flights starting at $25, along with thirteen delicious, hand-prepared cocktails, and a food menu that offers fresh sandwiches, wraps and grilled items.

So, if you’re looking to perhaps enjoy a uniquely different approach to both rum and tequila, we recommend stopping by the Rum + Tequila Experience. Our knowledgeable staff will guide you through all of the selections and offer recommendations based on your personal taste preference and level of curiosity. And if you’re just looking to enjoy a delicious poolside margarita (who isn’t) we’ve got plenty of those, too…try six handcrafted variations.
