‘Twas the weekend before Christmas, and while you run around,
Looking for last minute presents, your head starts to pound.

There’s so much preparing to do, with so little time,
The dreaded in-laws are coming, and they’re going to whine.

With so many dinners to make, and gifts to be wrapped,
Your spirit’s running on empty, and you’re feeling sapped.

Well there’s no need to worry, don’t pull out your hair,
Omni Amelia Island, will always be there.

We’ve got the holidays covered, with events galore,
Because enjoying the season, shouldn’t be a chore.

So please join us this season, as we spread some cheer,
And from our family to yours, we hope to see you here.

The festivities start this Sunday, December 22, at Omni Amelia Island Plantation, beginning with the Verandah restaurant’s take on a time-honored Italian-American tradition known as the “Feast of the Seven Fishes.” This meal typically consists of seven different seafood dishes and is served on Christmas Eve, but we’ll be running our specialty menu from December 22 until January 2, 2014. For $49, guests can enjoy their choice of appetizer, entrée and dessert. Some of the featured items will include Tuna Crudo, Marinated Crab Salad, Florida Calico Scallops, and Shrimp & Grits. Guests can reserve their spot on Open Table, but hurry, seating is limited!

On Christmas Eve, we’ll be offering cookie decorating and pretzel-dipping stations for our guests at Camp Amelia from 5-6pm, so bring the kids down and decorate some goodies to leave out for Santa. Admission is free and reservations aren’t required.

After you’ve finished discovering your inner pastry chef, guests can join us on the Seaglass Terrace, where St. Nick himself will be doing a last minute reading before traversing the globe with presents in tow. Complimentary hot chocolate will be available and it’s likely that Santa might even take some last minute gift requests or photo ops… as long as you’ve been nice this year (trust us, he’ll know).

Then on Christmas Day, everyone can mosey on down to Sunrise Café, where they’ll be serving a specialty Christmas Day brunch from 10:30am-3:30pm. This glorious, buffet-style meal will consist of Art of Breakfast selections, along with seasonal dishes, and…wait for it…BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS OR BLOODY MARYS. Because, nothing fills you with the holiday spirit like actual spirits. Price is $49 for adults and $19 for children.

Following a midday food coma, guests can head over to Live Oak where we’ll be offering a variety of board games along with complimentary popcorn for the whole family. And no matter how many mimosas grandma had at brunch, make sure she’s there too, because you know she’s going to want to throw down on some bingo, which starts at 6:30pm.

Then, on New Year’s Eve, we’re going to party like Prince did, oh so many years ago. Start off with a specialty three course menu at Oceanside Bar & Grill from 5-10pm, or enjoy our Sunrise After Dark menu from 5:30-9pm. Then join us on the Seaglass Terrace for our “Rockin’ Family New Year’s Eve” party from 6:30-10pm, featuring Wii games, complimentary S’mores around the fire pit, and music for the entire family. Then, help us bring in the New Year with the one and only Gary Ross, performing live from our Seaglass Lounge from 7pm-1:30am. Or stay out even later at the Falcon’s Nest, for a champagne toast at midnight and DJ Richard Wade on the turntables from 10pm-2am.

As most of us probably know, the morning of New Year’s Day can be a little rough on our eyes and skulls. That’s why the Seaglass Lounge will be offering $3 Mimosas and Bloody Marys from 9am-4pm—because sometimes it takes the hair of the dog to make you feel like a human again. And if you’ve got tickets to the Gator Bowl, we’ll be offering game day transportation at 9am from Racquet Park. If you don’t have game day tickets, don’t worry, you can watch the game with the rest of us at Falcon’s Nest, where they’ll be serving up $2 Moonshine Marys along with draft beers and black-eyed peas.

Okay, that was a lot to take in. But don’t worry, you can find out everything you need to know about the upcoming holidays at Omni Amelia Island Plantation right here…and the best part about that link is that it skips all of the mindless banter included in this blog post.

Okay, I’ve got some last minute shopping to do, but before I forget, happy holidays.
