Annual Holiday Celebration on Amelia Island

Holiday CelebrationI’ll admit, sometimes it can be hard to get into the holiday spirit, especially when those around you have had visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads for months on end now. I’m sure we all know someone who’s had Christmas tunes on repeat since mid-September (Mom) or who insists on injecting peppermint flavor into anything that’s edible (Mom, again).

Well for those of you wandering around in a holiday spirit wasteland, don’t worry – there’s hope for you yet. That’s because this Friday, November 29th, from 5-8pm, Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be hosting its Annual Holiday Celebration down at The Shops. This festive event will feature all sorts of family-friendly activities that will turn even the most-hardened Scrooge into a Christmas saint, including train & hayrides, pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, live holiday music, the lighting of our 34-foot Christmas tree, and so much more. Enjoy a selection of refreshments including hot cocoa and apple cider (they’ll be serving hard cider as well, should you need an extra dose of holiday spirit).

“Christmas is perhaps the only time in the year when people can obey their natural impulses and express their true sentiments without feeling self-conscious and, perhaps, foolish.  Christmas, in short, is about the only chance a man has to be himself.”  ~Francis C. Farley

Santa's Little HelperThe event is free and open to the public, but tabbed wristbands will be available for purchase at either $15 or $25 (a $5 value/tab) and can be used towards any of the above activities. Families will also be able to decorate a dozen homemade cookies to take home for just $20. And, in the spirit of giving, Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the local mentoring and scholarship program, Take Stock in Children. So, if you’re in a bit of a holiday funk this season, come down to The Shops of Amelia Island and take part in their annual Holiday Celebration. And if, by the evening’s end you’re not ready to sign up as one of Santa’s Little Helpers, at least you’ll be in the mood to start donning red vests and cheesy sweaters.
